The major snowfall in Calgary on Saturday has lead crews out along the main street in Downtown Bowness dealing with an emergency water break.

      By CityNews Staff

The snowfall and ensuing extreme cold led to an emergency water break in a northwest Calgary community Saturday.

The City of Calgary says five homes and 40 businesses in Bowness have been affected, and that the main break is at 6404 Bowness Road.

Signs in the area indicate portions of the road will be closed for the next few days.

The city says the repair will be continued on Monday.
