Calgary police are asking the victim of a random sexual assault that happened in downtown this summer to come forward.

Investigators say on Saturday, Aug. 3, around 3:40 a.m., a woman was walking in the area of 17 Avenue and 5 Street SW when a naked man came up behind her and touched her inappropriately.

The woman screamed and the man fled the scene, according to police.

Bystanders saw the incident and reported it to police, but the victim left the area before investigators identified her.

Police searched the area for the suspect but couldn’t find him.

Investigators want to speak with the woman in relation to the incident, as it’s believed she may have important information that could further the ongoing investigation.

Police urge the victim, and anyone else with information about this incident to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.

Calgary police issued a warning to the public in August after a naked man reportedly approached a group of three young women and sexually assaulted one of them in Elbow Park.

Police later said the same man sought in connection with the random sexual assault in Elbow Park earlier this month is suspected in several other “indecent acts.”
