Calgary’s municipal election is less than two months away and thousands of people are needed to make sure the process runs smoothly.
Elections Calgary opened applications for election workers on Wednesday.
“Elections Calgary is looking for customer-focused individuals who are passionate about their community and interested in the democratic process. Election workers will help ensure the voting process is legislatively compliant, accessible and efficient,” said Kate Martin, the City of Calgary’s Returning Officer.
Every election worker position is paid, and stand-by election workers will also be hired to make sure all positions are filled during the advance vote and election day.
Individuals don’t have to be Canadian citizens to work the 2025 election, but they do need to be eligible to work in Canada and at least 16 years old.
Election workers must also be available to complete a training session in September or October, and be available to work extended hours during the advance vote (Oct. 6-11) and/or election day (Oct. 20)
Those who meet these qualifications and would like to be part of the team can fill out an application at electionscalgary.ca/work.
More information can also be found at electionscalgary.ca or by calling 403-476-4100.
A significant amount of applications are expected, so Elections Calgary says only successful applicants will be contacted.
