Water quality advisory lifted for lake at Heritage Pointe: AHS

A water advisory has been lifted following the presence of fecal bacteria at a lake located just south of Calgary.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) issued a water quality advisory on Thursday, stating that there were elevated levels of fecal bacteria in the water at The Lake at Heritage Pointe.

In an update on Friday, the health agency said the levels had returned to “an acceptable level” and the advisory was lifted.

“The health risk is low for usage of the lake for recreational purposes,” says AHS.

Water-borne organisms, including fecal bacteria, can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Swimming in the lake could also potentially cause skin, ear, and eye infections, according to AHS.
