Police seek help identifying driver in SE Calgary hit-and-run

Police are asking for help as they try to identify a driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that left an older woman injured in southeast Calgary.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Mahogany Street SE and 52 Street SE.

According to investigators, a 71-year-old woman was walking eastbound in a marked crosswalk at the light-controlled intersection when she was hit by a vehicle making a right-hand turn from westbound Mahogany Street to northbound 52 Street.

The driver, believed to be a man, did not remain at the scene.

The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have released a dashcam photo of the suspect vehicle, described as a 2007 to 2017 black Jeep Patriot.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, has dashcam footage from the area, or can identify the vehicle or driver to come forward. Tips can be submitted by calling 403-266-1234 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

So far this year in Calgary, 11 pedestrians have died and more than 300 pedestrian collisions have been reported.
