Police hunt suspects after vehicle torched in NE Calgary

Calgary Police are investigating an arson in the city’s NE.

Calgary police are investigating after a vehicle was deliberately set on fire in a northeast neighbourhood early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, after a vehicle fire was reported in the driveway of a home located in the Saddlehorn Drive and 60 Street NE.

Investigators say a Volkswagen Passat was deliberately set on fire.

The blaze caused significant damage to the vehicle and prompted a response from fire crews, who quickly extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported.

According to police, security footage from the area shows two suspects approaching the vehicle before igniting it.

The suspects are then seen fleeing eastbound toward a nearby school.

Officers continue to investigate and are working to identify those involved.
