Young woman sought after garage fire destroys vehicle in SE Calgary

Police are looking for a young woman after a fire destroyed a detached garage and a vehicle in the city’s southeast earlier this summer.
Calgary police say officers on patrol spotted heavy smoke near 17 Avenue and 42 Street SE just after 12:25 p.m. on July 18.
They traced the smoke to a nearby burning garage on 42 Street and evacuated nearby homes.
Investigators say the suspect walked up to the garage, lit a piece of paper, and slid it under the door. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.
Police describe the suspect as a female between 16 and 24 years old, who is about 5’4″ tall with a slim build. She was wearing an all‑black tracksuit, a black baseball cap and white shoes, and carrying a black‑and‑pink backpack, and is believed to frequent the Forest Lawn neighbourhood.
Images have been released, but because the suspect may be a youth, the face is blurred.
