Fire crews respond to garage fire at SE Calgary home

A morning garage fire sent thick smoke over a southeast Calgary neighbourhood early Wednesday.
Fire crews were called around 8:40 a.m. to a home on Riverview Close SE in the community of Riverbend for reports of a garage burning.
Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the garage. Crews stretched multiple hose lines to knock down the flames from the driveway.
Searches confirmed no one was inside the home. All occupants had already escaped after a neighbour alerted them.
The fire department says a vehicle inside the garage caught fire and most of the damage was contained to the garage.
ATCO Gas and Enmax attended the scene, and they shut off utilities to the home. A fire‑watch crew remains at the property.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
