Former NHL hockey coach Pat Burns dead at 58

Long time coach Pat Burns has lost his lengthy battle with cancer.
One of his former teams, the New Jersey Devils confirmed Burns death late Friday afternoon.
The Quebec native , coached several teams to some of their best seasons in recent memory, including taking the Montreal Canadiens to a Stanley Cup final in his first NHL season in 1989.
Last March, a thin and frail Burns attended the announcement of the construction of ‘Pat Burns Arena’ in Stanstead Quebec, and talked about the highlight of his NHL coaching career.
Devils GM Lou Lamierello says “the hockey world has lost a great friend and ambassador.”
Burns also coached the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins and is the only coach to win the Jack Adams trophy with three different teams.
Pat Burns was 58.
