Sure, the temperature may drop below minus 30 degrees Celsius in Calgary, but it’s a dry cold, right?
Wrong, say weather experts.
A retired weather scientist for the Department of National Defence says despite claims to the contrary, people cannot easily detect the difference between a dry cold and a wet cold.
Randall Osczevski points out the air’s ability to hold moisture at a certain temperature is pretty much the same in Calgary, Toronto or Vancouver.
He tells the National Post, what really makes a difference are factors like wind chill or sunshine.
