Abuse victims now have a single access point for help

Calgary has a brand new resource for victims of domestic violence.
The Connect Family and Sexual Abuse Network launched Monday, bringing 15 Calgary community agencies together on one website, and through one phone number.
Chief Rick Hanson says police deal with about 14,000 domestic violence calls each year, and those are just the ones from people who pick up the phone.
Chief Hanson noted there are many more cases of domestic abuse that go unreported.
“It allows people that opportunity to make that one call to talk to that one person who’s going to tell them,” Hanson told a media conference to celebrate the launch of the new agency.
