Albertans owing child support payments had a nasty surprise on the first Monday of January.
A glitch between the provincial government and the Royal Bank of Canada caused multiple withdrawals, emptying three month’s worth of payments before anyone noticed.
Alberta justice spokesman Jay O’Neil tells 660News their priority right now is to make sure the accounts get fixed. He says once that’s done, they’ll sit down with the bank and try to figure out what happened.
About 11,000 people were affected by the glitch.
