The arrival of summer holidays means it is busy at the border.
On average, more than 1500 people per day pass through the Coutts crossing but that number could swell to twice that.
And with more and more travelers buying vehicles and other goodies state-side, processing returnees takes even longer.
Canada’s Border Services Agency is issuing a few reminders to cross-border shoppers to avoid getting hung up on their return home.
If you’ve ever sat in line at the Montana border crossing at Coutts, you know it can kick up the stress level for your drive home.
Lisa White with Canada Border Services says the CBSA website gives shoppers and would-be importers all the information they need to expedite processing.
She says vacationers should be advised that mid-to-late afternoon is always busiest.
If they can’t avoid it, she advises, just sign up and follow them on Twitter!
“We post our border wait times on Twitter for the Coutts border crossing and other major land-border crossings across the country. They can check it out, they’re updated as the times fluctuate, so that’s a really good tool to factor in any delays you may face at the border,” she says.
