Crash simulator shows danger of distracted driving

If you want to see just how likely talking or texting behind the wheel will make you drive into that car in front of you, head to Eau Claire.

The market now has a driving simulator to help you see whether you can handle dialing, writing or talking while driving.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada set up the simulator and tells the Calgary Herald many people trying it out were surprised by how bad they did with some rear-ending virtual cars or swiping guardrails.

The province is hoping to introduce a new law banning distracted driving behind the wheel this fall.
