Calgary made Hemp car

A Calgary company has created buzz in the automotive world by announcing an electric car whose body is made out of hemp.

Made by Motive and called the Kestrel, it would be Canada’s first bio-composite bodied electric car.

Motive’s V-P of Design Darren McKeage tells 660News the Kestrel will make its debut next month at a Vancouver trade show.

The roof, hood and other panels would be made of hemp composite, which is being grown near Vegreville, east of Edmonton.
