Humane Society happy with Stampede rule changes

The Calgary Humane Society says they’re pleased with the changes announced on Wednesday to the Stampede chucks and rodeo events.
Executive Director Patricia Cameron tells 660News, it’s a step in the right direction and they’ve worked with the Stampede for the last 20 years, drawing their attention to changes that should be made.
Cameron says they have about 20 recommendations in total, and will be working with the Stampede in the future to make the events even safer, but this is certainly an encouraging sign.
She says very few rodeos across Western Canada get the scrutiny the Stampede does and the animals get a very high level of care with highly skilled veterinarians on scene.
She hopes this sets a watermark for other rodeos to meet and even exceed and as people become more aware, then more changes will result.
