More proof things cost more in Calgary

The senior economist at ATB Financial says prices on a number of discretionary spending items are normally higher in Calgary than Edmonton.
Todd Hirsh tells 660News Calgarians do pay more for things like restaurant meals and golf.
Hirsh says Calgary is a white collar city and has a stronger economy than blue collar Edmonton.
Duncan Mills with the National Allied Golf Association says it’s no secret there is more money in Calgary and people are willing to pay higher green fees.
Bruce Cran with the Consumers Association of Canada says ultimately supply and demand determines market prices.
Cran says his research in the past even shows Calgarians have also paid more for their fruit and vegetables.
Gas prices in Edmonton are also lower, but the three cent a litre difference right now is legitimate, because the wholesale price for fuel in Calgary is slightly higher at the moment.
Hirsh says people who are not happy about the price disparity have a couple of options — don’t buy those goods and services or move to Edmonton.
