Fans say goodbye to Canucks

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Canucks fans gathered at Rogers Arena Friday to say goodbye to the team, as the players cleaned out their lockers for the final time this season.
They were there to thank the guys for what they call an amazing season.
The Canucks didn’t get the prize they were after, but Norm says they can hold their heads up high. “They should be proud of this season, because it was very successful”.
He also believes the Canucks could have another shot at the Stanley Cup next year. “They’ve got a great team. They’re going to make a run for a few more years to come. Their key elements are still in place.”
Lee Ann says players have been stopping, chatting, and signing autographs. “Yes, we’ve gotten quite a few autographs actually. They’ve all stopped and shaken our hands and it’s just been a great feeling. Especially after the aftermath of Wednesday night.”
Cheryl says she just wants to show support for the team after a great year. “And just say you had a fantastic year and we still love you and believe in you.”
Barb has one last message for her team, to bring the 2010/2011 hockey season to a proper close. “I love you guys, and I’ll be there for you next year”.
She says the players seem to be in good spirits and they deserve to be after an amazing season.
Canucks Weigh in on Game 7 Fallout
After packing their lockers, the players met with the media.
Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo says the riot was hard to watch. “I mean it was disappointing, I think those were not the real Vancouver fans that were doing that. I think it was probably some isolated groups and stuff. It was tough to watch something like that happening to the city.”
Alex Burrows shares his teammate’s disappointment. “Obviously it’s a minority of people that got everything going, and it’s disappointing, and I’d like to not see that.”
Canucks Captain Henrik Sedin is focusing on the positive, saying he was impressed by the clean up effort in downtown Vancouver. “What happened yesterday, all the volunteers that came out, I think that shows more what Vancouver’s about than the night before. That’s not my Vancouver.”
