Slave Lake thanks Calgary

The Chief of the Slave Lake Fire Department was in Calgary Monday to personally thank the hundreds of firefighters from our city who traveled to the northern Alberta’s town’s aid when wildfires struck last month.
Chief Jamie Coutts also dropped in to city hall this morning to thank council for sending them.
Not only did Calgary send the most firefighters and equipment, Coutts says they built dozens of miles of fencing, an over-land hydrant system and camped out with no heat, water or power.
Coutts says, without the support from Calgary, the Slave Lake disaster would have been much worse.
“I don’t think ‘thank you’ is enough, I don’t really know what to say. I know what those people on ‘Extreme Home Makeover’ feel. You just can’t find the words to say enough to say thank you,” says Coutts.
He says Calgary firefighters played a huge role in getting displaced residents back home to Slave Lake quickly and safely.
