Road crews catching up after rainy June

The city is hoping for more of this mainly dry weather we’ve been getting as road crews scramble to catch up thanks to all the rain in June.
It meant delays in construction, affecting key projects like Metis Trail in Calgary’s northeast.
Conrad Hild with City of Calgary Transportation tells 660News they’re hoping the work to connect Metis to Stoney Trail will be finished on time.
“The goal is to have Metis Trail completed by the fall of this year. It’s being extended from 80th Avenue to 96th Avenue, as well as twinning between 72nd Avenue and 80th Avenue and then even 80th is being twinned between 52nd Street and Metis Trail,” says Hild.
In the wake of Barlow Trail closing north of McKnight Boulevard this past spring, Metis Trail will improve access to and from the airport as well as to northeast homes and businesses.
Work in the area is well underway to extend 96th Avenue from the community of Harvest Hills to Airport Trail across the Deerfoot, which should be complete by next summer.
