Crash with moose kills passenger

Rocky View County is known for its scenery and wildlife. But on Saturday night, there was a tragic reminder of what can happen when wildlife crosses area highways.
A car hit a moose on Highway 1, east of Highway 40, near Cochrane.
A 69 year old woman died on scene, and a 34 year old was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Names are being with-held until the victim’s family is notified.
