Premier Ed Stelmach looks back

Looking back on his time as Alberta’s Premier, Ed Stelmach looks back without regrets, but won’t say who he’s hoping will replace him going forward.

Stelmach tells The Globe and Mail, he focused on building infrastructure, but other factors relating to energy and the environment on the world stage brought the spotlight to Alberta.

Stelmach says it was during that time he fought hard to stave off a cap-and-trade scheme, adding the perception of the oil sands has improved since he was elected five years ago.

As for which candidate he’s supporting, he says he tries not to think about it, but says this time around, the more a candidate says, the more they could risk getting hurt in the polls.
