Major funding injection for zoo

The black-footed ferret, black-tailed prairie swan and the northern leopard frog are among a list of endangered Canadian species that will benefit from a 1.25 million-dollar donation by Husky Energy to the Calgary Zoo.
It’s the largest program donation ever received by the zoo.
Head of conservation research, Dr. Axel Moehrenschlager, says Husky’s contribution means hope for Canada’s endangered species.
“When we use science, we have the potential to come up with innovative solutions to make sure that endangered species out there are, first of all, protected and secondly, restored,” says Moehrenschlager.
He says this donation will not only benefit species dear to Canadians but also help to develop solutions to environmental problems that can be applied around the world.
