Five families are battling it out but only one can become the most energy-efficient household in Canada.
The competitors were in Calgary on Saturday as part of the nation-wide Energy Diet Challenge.
Families began at Chinook Centre trying to sell to passers-by products like LED lights and composting toilets. Then, they raced down the aisles at Rona to find the right products to build an energy-friendly room.
The households will also head to Toronto for the “one-litre challenge” to see who can drive the most fuel-efficiently.
The competition is designed by Canadian Geographic and Shell Canada to encourage us to use energy more sparingly.
