Man charged in hunting accident

A hunting trip has turned bad near Mayerthorpe.

A man called police Friday evening saying he accidentally shot a person on the Alexis First Nation reserve.

The 31-year old victim suffered injuries to his upper body and was air lifted by Stars to Edmonton where he is in stable condition.

The 43-year old hunter is charged with careless use of a firearm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Alcohol was not a factor.
