Tips for making Halloween safe for your youngster

Halloween is officially a week away and while you’re readying the costumes for your little ones, be sure to go over safety tips for their night of trick or treating.
Safe Kids Canada has partnered with FedEx to remind parents to make safety a priority.
Among their recommendations: parents should accompany all children under the age of nine while going door to door; costumes with bright colours should be chosen; children should stay on the sidewalk at all times; and look both ways when crossing the street, including at crosswalks.
Each year 2,400 children in Canada are injured in pedestrian accidents, leading Safe Kids Canada to remind drivers to be especially cautious — particularly in residential areas — the evening of October 31st.
