Calgary hosts 2011 Diversity Conference

The Calgary Police Service is happy to report a three day diversity conference is sold out.
Some 300 people from across Canada, and a few international delegates, will converge on the Delta South Hotel this week to discuss diversity.
Sergeant Bill Dodd with the Police department’s Diversity Resources Team, tells 660News the goal is to create barrier free, inclusive organizations that embrace diversity and inclusion.
Dodd says Canada appears to be one of the few countries, where multi-culturalism policies have produced their desired affect.
However, he says only by improving communications and the interconnect that is required to service those people will ethnic communities continue to grow and flourish.
He also hopes some ideas on how to better gauge the success of various diversity programs will also be forward during the conference.
The conference isn’t only about policing , with other agencies including housing, labour and family counselling services taking part.
