A funeral service was held in Innisfail Saturday for Vicky Shachtay, the 23 year old town resident who was killed in what police say was a targeted attack.
More than 250 people filled a small church to honour the wheel-chair bound Shachtay, who died nine days earlier when a parcel delivered to her front door exploded.
“The service was a great tribute to Vicky, her life, her faith in Jesus,” Pastor Dave Wiebe told the Canadian Press. “The community is still in shock and saddened, both as a mixture of shock, sadness, and” (yes) “looking for answers.”
Shachtay leaves behind a 7 year old daughter.
Police say Shachtay was not in trouble with the law, raising suspicion she may not have been the intended target of the explosive package. So far no arrests have been made by police.
