City plots plan “B” for rec centres

It’s on to plan “B” for city council as it looks for another way to pay for four new rec centres.

In a much publicized move, the federal government recently denied a $100-million grant to help pay for the new buildings.

Council has asked city staffers to find ways of saving money to help cover-off the unexpected short-fall.

It could include reducing the number of rec centres from four to three, or using the same design for all the projects.

Staffers have until March to report back to council.
