Wildrose leader Danielle Smith feeling bullish about 2012

Despite a recent dip in polling numbers, Wildrose leader Danielle Smith is bullish about the party’s prospects in 2012.
In a year end interview with the Calgary Herald, Smith takes credit for her party bringing an end to the tenure of former Premier Ed Stelmach.
At the height of Wildrose popularity, and widespread discontent with Stelmach, Smith and her party were getting nearly 40 per cent support in the polls.
But with a new leader for the Progressive Conservatives, and some internal issues surfacing within the Wildrose, support for the relatively new right-wing party has been slipping.
With a general election on the horizon within the next few months, Smith feels Premier Alison Redford is vulnerable on at least two fronts.
Smith points to the provincial deficit, now projected at more than $3 billion for the current fiscal year, and land-owner rights as the Achilles heel for the Redford PC’s.
One area the leader feels her own party needs improvement is visibility and popularity in Edmonton.
