“Technical mistake” to blame for missing rec centre funds

It’s a $100-million flub that Calgarians may not soon forget.

MP Jason Kenney said Thursday the federal government made a “technical mistake” when city representatives were informed a project to build four new rec centres was approved for funding from Ottawa.

Kenney says P3 Canada, the crown corporation set up to dole out federal dollars for infrastructure projects, was in error when it told Calgary it could apply for rec centre funding.

According to Kenney, rec centres were never included in the P3 funding program.

The city spent $3-million going through the application process.
