Two RCMP officers shot in central Alberta

Police say two RCMP officers have been shot and wounded in rural Alberta. The two officers, who are from the Killam detachment, were taken to an Edmonton hospital by STARS air ambulance. Their condition is not known.
“We began responding to an emergency at 3:02 p.m. from Edmonton and began responding from Calgary at 3:06 p.m. Tuesday,” says STARS spokesperson Cameron Heke.
Reports say the shooter is dead. RCMP are holding a news conference Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Alberta Premier Alison Redford says she’s offering her hopes and prayers to the families of the two Mounties shot and wounded near Killam. Redford says she was briefed by the Solicitor General on the incident at a rural residence near the town.
Killam is about 160 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.
