Woman rescued

Firefighters rescued a woman from a smoke-filled apartment in Calgary’s northeast Sunday morning.
Fortunately, crews arrived at the Mayland Heights-area building just in time.
The 9-1-1 call came in around 12:30 a.m.
Firefighters were called to the three storey complex on McKinnon Road N.E., arriving to find about 30 people already out on the street.
However, as they discovered, one person was still inside and in the affected unit.
Fire crews carried the woman, believed to be in her 30’s, to waiting paramedics who rushed her to hospital.
Fire Battalion Chief Don Huska tells 660News there was a great deal of smoke in the unit.
“Crews also located a smoldering mattress and removed it out of the unit, ventilated the building and all the residents were allowed to return,” says Huska.
There’s no word yet what caused the mattress to ignite.
