The word ‘anabolic’ spells success for Grade 7 student in spelling bee

In the course of a year, Kaleigh Beer has gone from third to first after winning the Postmedia Canspell Regional Spelling Bee and a trip to nationals.
Kaleigh won out over 51 other contestants Saturday at the U of C’s MacEwan Hall, nailing the word ‘anabolic’ to clinch the regional title.
The win came at the expense of Safwan Hossain who finished second in the competition for the second year in a row.
Kaleigh is a Grade 7 student at Foundations for the Future Charter Academy Middle School.
Her next stop is the Postmedia national competition, March 28th in Toronto.
