Bowden prison bids for new cable deal

Bowden prison is looking to keep its prisoners entertained in the future.
Authorities at the medium-security federal penitentiary have put out a call for bids to provide 60 basic channels, three movie channels and 10 a-la-carte channels for some 500 outlets in the building.
Its five-year contract with Shaw is about to expire, according to The Calgary Herald, and was worth about $15 per prisoner.
Inmates pay for cable out of their wages or savings accounts and aren’t allowed overly violent or sexually explicit programming.
