High winds cause power outages in Okotoks

Strong winds left some Okotoks residents in the dark Tuesday night.
About 2,500 customers were without power just after 6:30pm.
Jennifer MacGowan with Fortis Alberta tells 660News high winds and a freak snow storm caused a pole to catch fire.
“As a result of those conditions and moisture from the snow, it caused pieces of equipment to catch fire, breaking a cross arm resulting in a downed line.”
Power was restored around 8pm but about 250 of those in the Woodhaven and Railway streets area remained in the dark well into the evening.
