Winter Storm bearing down on eastern Alberta

Travelers heading east of Calgary may want to reconsider their plans.

Winter storm warnings are out Monday for much of eastern Alberta that will make driving dangerous.

Meteorologist David Spence says the wintry weather will strike between Strathmore and the Alberta-Saskatchewan border with the brunt it getting worse the further east.

Up to 30 centimetres of snow is expected near the border, and Medicine Hat is under a winter blizzard warning.

Spence recommends holding-off travel until Tuesday at least as he says roads will be treacherous regardless of whether they area is under a storm or blizzard warning.

Calgary is not under any warnings.
