When will the Premier drop the writ?

Now that the provincial budget has been passed, Albertans are wondering when they will be called to the polls.
Joan Crockatt with Crockatt Communications says the writ will likely be dropped within the next several days.
“Everybody thinks that Alison Redford is going to go to the Lieutenant Governor sometime in the next, well it could be from today forward to next Monday, to have an election call for April 23rd,” she tells 660News. “So now that we’ve got the budget passed, she actually has fulfilled the biggest part of her committment.” (It) “could be any day.”
But before that happens, Crockatt says there is still business to be taken care of, including Education Minister Thomas Lukaszuk’s Education Act.
“He wants to get that passed because that’s part of his committment to Albertans,” says Crockatt of the controversial legislation which the opposition is trying to amend or kill. “And I think Alison Redford’s. She really wants those soccer moms and teachers on her side and they feel this will be a popular piece of legislation to go into the election with.”
Whether the legislation is passed or not, Crockatt expects the election call will come within days.
“You know we’ve seen the busses roll out,” she adds. “Everybody has their campaign vehicle now. Alison Redford has her big bus. Danielle Smith has her bus although she has to get it repainted. Raj Sherman has his big red truck out. The NDP has their mini-van. I mean it’s the battle of the vehicles and they’re all ready to hit the road.”
The legislature passed the budget Tuesday night.
