Dead body found inside torched mini van

Police are looking into a possible suspicious death after a burned out mini van was found in Fish Creek Park Sunday morning.

Just before 7:00am the Calgary Fire Department responded to the report of a fire inside the park and upon arrival, discovered the van engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, a body was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle but was so badly burned a gender or age could not be determined.

The vehicle was transported out of the park on a flat bed truck with the body still inside and an autopsy will be conducted at a later date.

Duty Inspector Shawn Wallace tells 660News both the Homicide and Arson Units have been called in to investigate the death, which could be Calgary’s fourth murder of the year.
