Bridge in storage could take place of new development

Shortly after the controversial Peace Bridge was unveiled, a few Aldermen wanted to bring a proposal for yet another pedestrian crossing to council.
But Mayor Naheed Nenshi says it might not be necessary after all.
The bridge would be a second connection between Inglewood and the East Village over the Elbow River, but Nenshi says there’s an existing bridge in storage that could be the solution.
The Mayor tells The Calgary Sun if the bridge is built, $250-million will be paid for from the future property taxes of the people in East Village.
He adds that he still needs to be convinced a small bridge is needed to the area and that the existing bridge can’t meet demands.
