Calgary is getting its first real taste of summer this weekend with temperatures expected to hit 22-degrees, and you can bet that means many people will be getting their first real taste of BBQ this season.
Michael Seems, a BBQ expert with Trail Appliances, says you’ll want to clean your grill before lighting it up.
One of the most important things is ensuring burners are in good shape.
“Get your burners free of clogs and debris.” he says. “Over the winter, insects tend to make a home in there, and as they die-off, they make quite a mess.”
He also points out a clogged burner can lead to damaged parts and dangerous flare-ups.
Seems says you should also clean the grill box out. He uses a vacuum to suck-up the debris from last season.
As for what’s hot in grilling technology, check out infrared grills.
“These grills heat-up from 0 to 1600 degrees in under 30 seconds,” says Seems.
