First hat tossed in ring for Tory nomination in Calgary Centre

A political commentator and the former Managing Editor of the Calgary Herald has become the first person to toss their hat in the ring for the Tory nomination in Calgary Centre.

If she wins the nomination and the subsequent by-election, Joan Crockett says she’ll bring a new passion to Parliament Hill and push hard for the issues that matter in her riding.

Lee Richardson announced he was vacating the post on May 30th to take a position working for Premier Alison Redford.

The Chief Electoral Officer has received notice of the seat being vacated, clearing the way for Prime Minister Harper to call a by-election which has to be held within six months.

Others rumoured interested in the position include Alderman John Mar and former provincial candidate Sean Chu.
