Alberta boy needs stitches in face after family dog bites him

CHESTERMERE, Alta. – Police say an 11-year-old boy from the Calgary area needed several stitches around his eye after the family dog bit him.

Emergency responders tended to the boy at his home in Chestermere on Wednesday night.

He was then taken to a Calgary hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say the family took the animal _ a 7 1/2-year-old mixed breed _ to a veterinarian to be put down.

Earlier this year, a two-day-old baby boy in Airdrie, another Calgary bedroom community, died after he was bitten by the family’s husky.

That dog was also destroyed.
