Alcohol a factor in rollover on LRT tracks: police

A 21-year-old man walked away relatively uninjured after flipping his car on the LRT tracks directly beside the Rundle LRT Station Sunday night.

Police say around 11:10 p.m., a man drove his Cavalier onto the southbound tracks from 26 Ave. N.E.; he travelled down the tracks for about 200 metres until he struck a pole, flipping the car on its roof.

The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, and charges are pending.

The tracks were shut down briefly and inspected by engineers.
