New U.S. Consul white hatted

The new U.S. Consul General to Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories has been properly welcomed to Calgary, with a white hat.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi began the ceremony for Peter Kujawinski with a history lesson.

“My predecessor Don MacKay, back in the 1960’s wore a white hat riding a horse through the lobby of a hotel in Toronto and since then the white has really been known as a symbol of Calgary,” said Nenshi.

Kujawinski has only been on the job for ten days and says he is looking forward to the next three years.

“I am incredibly excited to be here in Calgary,” said Kujawinski.
