Paramedics help child born off Deerfoot Trail

A Calgary couple got some roadside assistance on Deerfoot Trail Saturday night from EMS, not for help with their car, but delivering their child.

The parents were heading to the hospital to deliver the baby, but the child had other plans.

So they pulled over on Deerfoot Trail and Country Hills Blvd. where Adam Loria with Calgary EMS said crews headed to help.

“We arrived very quickly and assisted the mother, obviously she did all the work,” he said. “A healthy child and stabilized that patient, both mom and patient I should say and were transported to hospital subsequently.”

Loria added the couple did the right thing in not rushing to the hospital and pulling over to a safe location for assistance.

He added it was also a special moment for the paramedics involveD, whose line of work can be difficult.
