Iconic Glacier Park Lodge forced to close

A popular hotel in Rogers Pass is being forced to close after 40 years.

Glacier Park Lodge’s lease expired in 2010 and the hotel has since been operating on a month-to-month basis.

Now it must shut its doors after long standing issues with Parks Canada.

There are no plans to reopen the longstanding destination for back country skiers in the future.

Revelstoke resident Bob Walker tells The Calgary Herald it’s a shame that this piece of history isn’t being saved.

The lodge is the only hotel in Rogers Pass and Walker hopes Parks Canada finds a way to reinvent the aging property.
