Early start to 2013 Alberta wildfire season

For the second straight year, the province is launching it’s wildfire prevention program a month earlier than normal.
Wildfire information officer, Whitney Exton tells 660News, tinder dry conditions are already being reported in southern Alberta and in parts of northern Alberta.
In 2012, wildfires scorched more than 375 thousand hectares in the province, with 80 per cent of the fires caused by humans.
As of March 1st, people looking to burn in forestry protected areas will need a permit, the only exception is campfires.
If you do spot smoke in a forestry area, your asked to dial 310 FIRE.
