Organizer predicts record attendance this weekend for Calgary Gun Show

The organizer of this weekend’s Calgary Gun Show at the BMO Centre predicts the 51st annual show will see its biggest crowds ever.

Hank Holm tells 660News, even though gun laws are different from those in the United States here in Canada, the current gun control debate in the States is spilling over to this country.

“Manufacturers have put on extra shifts to manufacture firearms,” notes Holm. “The demand is so great.  In the United States at the present time, most guns and gun stores are sold out.  There’s no ammunition available on the shelves.  It’s been all bought up.  And in Canada it’s the same thing.  The sales have increased.”

For that reason, Holm predicts interest in the gun show, which usually draws between 5,000 and 6,000 gun enthusiasts, will spike this year.

Owners of registered and antique guns will have the opportunity to trade and sell their fire-arms or have them appraised.

The Gun Show, which runs Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., will also feature collections of antique swords and bayonets.
