Calgary Zoo heralded for conservation

The Calgary Zoo is being praised for its conservation work.
One of the world’s leading scientific journals, Nature, is recognizing Calgary as one of five institutions with “robust” research programs.
Sixteen scientists work specifically on species conservation at the zoo.
The Calgary Sun reports the zoo also has a growing outreach program working around the world; including in the Congo with a rare type of antelope and penguin conservation in Antarctica.
Other zoos being recognized by the journal include the San Diego Zoo, the Smithsonian in Washington, the Antwerp Zoo and the London Zoo.
